Ennis Regional Medical Center Shares its 2023 Community Benefit Report
The report outlines the hospital’s continued impact on the health and well-being of the Ennis-area
ENNIS, Texas (February 29, 2024) – Ennis Regional Medical Center today published its community benefit and economic impact report for the 2023 calendar year. This report outlines the many ways the hospital positively contributes to the Ennis area, and spotlights how it continues to support the health and well-being of those who live and work in the region.
“The Ennis team loves their community and truly appreciates the opportunity to impact the lives of others, typically by providing compassionate, quality care to our patients,” said Mark Massey, CFO of Ennis Regional Medical Center. “They take great pride in knowing that our efforts to drive good health and wellness have a ripple effect of advancing the well-being of our community, whether that’s through our volunteerism, charitable contributions, taxes paid or the uncompensated care we provide. Our just-released Community Benefit Report provides a snapshot of some of the many ways our hospital benefits the area.”
Ennis Regional’s 2023 report highlights the hospital’s continued efforts to meet the growing healthcare needs of its communities through welcoming new providers, expanding service lines and continually investing in its facilities and healthcare technology. For example, in 2023, Ennis added three providers in Family Practice and General Surgery, and made more than $300,000 in capital improvements that included purchasing a new industrial air conditioning unit, a digital radiography system, a blood bank refrigerator and several new defibrillators.
Additionally, Ennis provided more than $22 million in health services to those in need, demonstrating its continued commitment to ensuring everyone has access to care, regardless of their ability to pay.
Ennis Regional is also devoted to creating environments where providers want to practice and employees want to work. In 2023, the hospital distributed more than $8 million in salaries, wages and benefits for its approximately 100 employees, and contributed more than $32,000 in professional development and tuition assistance so its employees have the opportunity to learn and improve the care they provide their patients.
The report shares several examples of how Ennis Regional is continually seeking ways to make a positive impact in the communities it serves, extending far beyond the physical walls of its facilities. Last year, the organization paid more than $1.5 million in provider, payroll, property and sales taxes, displaying its commitment to fiscal responsibility in an effort to boost the area’s economic well-being. The hospital is also honored to have supported local activities and organizations that contribute to the community, including Boys & Girls Club, Ennis Chamber of Commerce, Meals on Wheels and Running Free Ranch, among others.
“We are honored to serve Ennis, support the community, and earn the community’s support,” added Massey. “To be entrusted with your care is a serious responsibility but at the same time, a labor of love for our team. To extend our benefit beyond our hospital is what good partners do.”
