Ennis Regional Medical Center Names 2018 Mercy Award Winner

Ennis, TX  – Ennis Regional Medical Center recently announced that Chris Abbe has been recognized as the hospital’s 2018 Mercy Award winner. The Mercy Award recognizes one employee from each of LifePoint Health’s hospitals who profoundly touches the lives of others and best represents the spirit and values on which the company was founded.

The Mercy Award is an annual recognition program established in 2002 to honor the life and contributions of Scott Mercy, LifePoint’s founding chairman and chief executive officer. The award is considered the highest honor a LifePoint employee can receive.

“At Ennis Regional Medical Center, we share LifePoint’s commitment to making communities healthier, and we recognize this is supported by the good work and service of our employees both on and off the job,” said Bob Honeycutt, CEO of Ennis Regional Medical Center. “We are extremely proud to recognize Chris Abbe for his efforts on behalf of our patients and our community. Chris goes above and beyond each and every day to ensure that every person he encounters receives the highest level of care and compassion.”

Chris was recognized for his efforts as a paramedic in the Emergency Department at ERMC for 10 years, providing quality care to patients while undergoing a tremendous amount of pressure working in emergent situations.  Chris was also recognized for outstanding volunteer work outside of the walls of ERMC, providing disaster relief during Hurricane Katrina, Hurricane Harvey, and after the EF5 tornado that ripped through Joplin, Missouri in 2011.

Each hospital winner, including Chris Abbe, will be considered for LifePoint’s 2018 company-wide Mercy Award. The company-wide winner will be announced this summer and will be honored at a special celebration in Nashville, Tennessee in August, along with all other hospital winners.
